About me

Hi,
I'm Vasilios Fasfalis and this is my first blog!
I was born in Larissa Greece, from a Canadian mother and a Greek father. I've been in Quebec, Canada now since 1991 and at some point down the road I chose to become a lawyer!

When someone asks me what I do for living, usually I answer this, to try to be original but at the same time to let them now that it is carefully drafted response to a very difficult question: Each day I help and counsel people to take good decisions while taking educated and balanced legal risks.

Basically, I listen to people, review the facts presented to me and after careful consideration I try to come up with an idea, a solution or an opinion that will lead that person in front of me in the right direction without violating any laws and that will produce the best possible outcome given the facts presented to me.

Pretty simple right?! I consider being a lawyer as an adventure on a daily basis. You never know what the next day has planned for you, so you must be confortable with uncertainty to say the least.

In fact, my role at my current employer, Groupe Gilbert (a large construction firm) consist of advising management, project directors and owners of Groupe Gilbert on business issues involving construction law, commercial & corporate law, contract review & drafting, litigation management, as well as some legal matters related to real estate, labour law and regulatory compliance.

In addition, I lead efforts for Groupe Gilbert's expansion in new markets outside of Quebec and also handle other various corporate and strategic projects, as required by the board of directors. Finally, I assist the board of directors of Groupe Gilbert with governance and implement solutions to improve the corporate structure and decision making process.
